Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister is accidentally left behind when his family leaves for a Christmas vacation in Paris. At first, Kevin enjoys being home alone, doing whatever he wants and embracing his newfound independence. However, his excitement turns to trouble when he discovers that two burglars, Harry and Marv, are planning to rob his house. Determined to protect his home, Kevin creates a series of clever and hilarious booby traps to outsmart the intruders. Along the way, he learns the importance of family and realizes that Christmas is much better when spent with the people he loves.
