SUMMARY:Chicken Wire Empire
DESCRIPTION:Chicken Wire Empire returns to The Bend Theater\nBorn from the Wisconsin jamband scene\, Chicken Wire Empire began as a traditional bluegrass band. The band honed its traditional sound in 2014 with their debut album Chicken Wire Empire. With half of the group rooted in bluegrass\, and the other half steeped in jamband music\, a change occurred when CWE performed an Old & In The Way tribute show. A new sound was found in Milwaukee\, and Chicken Wire Empire joined the roster of high energy jamgrass happening across the nation.  This journey from traditional to progressive was documented by director Ross Monagle in the film ”All It Takes\,” premiering in 2016 at the Oriental Theatre in Milwaukee. Recorded and mixed by sound engineer Sam Donoghue\, the film follows the band around Wisconsin and includes performances in Milwaukee’s historic Riverside Theatre.  In 2018\, the band returned to the studio\, recording their sophomore album “What Moves Mountains” at Axis Recording Studios with engineer Vinny Millevolte and the mastering talents of Justin Perkins. With support from their family and friends\, What Moves Mountains was released January 1st of 2019. \nIn 2020\, as live shows were drying up\, the band turned to live-streaming\, and were featured showcase artists in virtual renditions of the IBMA and Folk Alliance International conferences. The band used their time to arrange and record an album with Minnesota songsmith Chris Castino (The Big Wu) at NeonBrown with Ryan Young (Trampled by Turtles) engineering. The album features guests Peter Rowan\, Sam Bush\, Jerry Douglas\, Andy Hall\, Tim O’Brien\, and Nick Forester. Entitled “Fresh Pickles\,” it was released in February 2022. \nChicken Wire Empire has been blessed to share the stage with renowned musicians Yonder Mountain String Band\, 30db\, The Big Wu\, Peter Rowan\, The Travelin’ McCourys\, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades\, and more.  With love from their local scene\, friends\, and families\, Chicken Wire Empire looks to the future\, with a goal to strengthen Wisconsin’s bluegrass scene\, and further the appreciation of acoustic music. \nDoors open at 6:30 PM to give you time to find your seats\, visit our historic lobby\, concession stand and fully stocked bar! \nShow begins at approximately 7:30 PM

SUMMARY:Skip Ewing Christmas
DESCRIPTION:Skip Ewing Christmas\nSkip Ewing is celebrating the holidays with a collection of original holiday songs and rearranged classics on Skip Ewing — Christmas.  Produced by Kyle Lehning and Ewing\, the tribute to the winter holidays mixes seasonal cheer with Ewing’s songwriting chops on seven tracks that include piano ballads (“Whenever Child is Born”)\, love songs (“Mr. Snowman”)\, an inventive take on “’Twas The Night Before Christmas” titled “Better Watch Out\,” and more. On “I’ll Be Home (An American Christmas)\,” Ewing honors the country’s military families by intermingling the bittersweet “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” with the patriotic “America the Beautiful.” The album also celebrates Christmas’ spiritual side with “Just A Kid\,” another Ewing original recorded years earlier by Kenny Chesney. \n“Christmas time is musically rich\,” says Ewing. “I feel fortunate and privileged to be able to record a Christmas album to offer new music that we also hope is musically rich. I want to make music that is lasting and meaningful and be able to do that until I can’t do it anymore.” \nThroughout his career\, Ewing has penned No. 1 smashes like Brian White’s “I’m Not Supposed to Love You Anymore\,” Diamond Rio’s “I Believe\,” Kenny Chesney’s “You Had Me From Hello\,” and Collin Raye’s “Love\, Me\,” in addition to pursuing his own career as an artist. \nOur featured opener of the evening\, The Sapsuckers\, write and perform original country/Americana songs that blend humor\, heartache\, and honky-tonk. \nWith an eclectic style that ranges from hillbilly roots to Nashville pop\, the songwriting team of Nikki Grossman and Joe Hart has developed a lively\, contemporary take on country music. Their creative lyrics\, catchy melodies\, and clever stage show have earned them a growing fanbase in the Midwest and beyond. \nDoors open at 6:30 PM to give you time to find your seats\, visit our historic lobby\, concession stand and fully stocked bar! \nShow begins at approximately 7:30 PM \n

SUMMARY:Rumpke Mountain Boys
DESCRIPTION:The Rumpke Mountain Boys combine signature vocals\, a unique command of string instruments (acoustic guitar\, mandolin\, upright bass\, and banjo)\, and dynamic special effects into a singular musical experience. An emotion-filled musical stream of consciousness with no setlist\, minimal structure\, and intuitive improvisational flow. In this way\, they summon the energy of the crowd as their guide in linking just the right music to precise moments in time. \nGrateful Dead Hour host David Gans proclaimed\, “One of the things I love about the Rumpke Mountain Boys is that there’s a fundamental honesty in their presentation. This is something they share with my other heroes\, Donna the Buffalo and the Grateful Dead. They don’t make setlists ahead of time\, they don’t rehearse their songs to a fare-thee-well– they perform in real-time. All four of them write\, which is very important\, and they draw songs from a tremendous variety of sources… being a musician is a life-long learning experience if you’re doing it right\, and they are.” \nLike playing around a campfire\, the Boys take turns calling the next tune\, distilling shows from a sea of infinite notes created from years of jamming. Drawing upon a growing catalog of originals and an eclectic mix of covers\, the Rumpke Mountain Boys blend music like a fine Irish whiskey– the result affectionately dubbed Trashgrass. The Boys titled their 2012 album release with the same name\, followed by their 2013 release\, Moon\, which was recorded at the famed Royal Studios in Memphis. 2016’s High Time\, Low Tide marks the release of their 4th self-produced album. \n2016 was outstanding for the string quartet. The Boys broke new ground throughout the country including Colorado\, California\, Oregon\, and the Southeast. Finishing up the year with two stellar highlights\, their own Snuggleween and the Rumpke Mountain Boys New Years Eve Ball in their hometown of Cincinnati. \nThe guys released a live album “In Good Company” in November 2018. The album was recorded live over 2 nights at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland\, OH. They continue to pave the way in the jamgrass scene today with their unique trashgrass style. Look for more new releases coming soon!

SUMMARY:Stephen Cooper and The Nobody Famous
DESCRIPTION:STEPHEN COOPER AND THE NOBODY FAMOUS \nLike a match to gasoline\, Stephen Cooper and The Nobody Famous ignite a white hot fire of soul and R&B infused rock and roll\, built on a framework of the classic Motown-Stax-Chess groove\, but through a 21st Century filter and with all the subtlety of a stampeding rhino.  After 25-plus years touring across the US and Europe with an array of bands\, singer/tenor saxophonist Stephen Cooper assumes the bandleader mantle and puts his name on the marquee for the first time.  Like a musical mad scientist\, Cooper has combined the essences of some of the greatest music ever made and created something truly special.  “The idea is to have a living\, breathing\, musical conduit from the past to the present\,” he explains\, “and I think we’ve done that.”  Make no mistake\, this is no nostalgic rehash\, this is a band packed with innovation and intensity from top to bottom.  Scorching barnburners nestled alongside tender ballads\, ruthless horns\, swirling keyboards and fuzzed-out guitars\, and vocals that owe an equal debt to Al Green and Chris Cornell.  They may call themselves Nobody Famous\, but it’s only a matter of time before Stephen Cooper makes Nobody a household name.
