DESCRIPTION:Back by Popular Demand: The Bend welcomes Them Coulee Boys back to our historic stage!\nThem Coulee Boys craft a brand of Americana that blends folk\, punk\, bluegrass\, and rock & roll. They sing their conversational songs in 4 part harmony\, often with a banjo stomp and rhythm section punch that drives the audience onto the dance floor and into community. Their trusty van has propelled them thousands of miles across the country and into the hearts of strangers\, who tend to leave each show as family. \nSoren Staff and Beau Janke—co-founders of folk/rock/Americana outfit Them Coulee Boys—met as counselors at a bible camp in northern Wisconsin in 2011. Having both grown up amidst a stretch of glacial melt-carved river valleys in the upper Midwest\, otherwise known by French fur trappers as coulees\, they became fast friends. Camp counselors actually coined the name “them coulee boys” as a way to refer to the constant companions\, more often than not with instruments in hand. Soren’s little brother\, Jens\, joined the crew on mandolin at camp in 2012\, and since\, both Neil Krause on bass and Staš Hable on drums have helped to grow the band into the rollicking outfit it is today. \n“from pure and genuine ballads to a leaping\, countrified take on rock and roll” 2021 marks the release of their fourth record\, Namesake\, a ten-song collection that spans from pure and genuine ballads to a leaping\, countrified take on rock and roll. Singles from the recording have premiered via The Bluegrass Situation\, Ditty TV\, and Live for Live. Twangville readers dubbed the record “Best New Release”. \nNamesake was recorded at The Hive in the band’s hometown of Eau Claire\, WI. The album was produced by Grammy-winner Brian Joseph who has worked with the likes of Paul Simon\, Sufjan Stevens\, Ani Difranco\, and The Indigo Girls\, and earned his Grammy producing and engineering Bon Iver’s Bon Iver. Taking inspiration from the intimate nature of The Hive after a long period of quarantine\, Namesake feels familiar—like old friends with no need for small talk. There are moments of power and punch\, balanced with intimacy only felt between the ones we love. \nNamesake finds Them Coulee Boys following a new trajectory\, combining their signature take on folk-grass and Americana with comfort on electric instruments and playing rock and roll. Adept at both guitar and piano\, she writes her songs based on raw emotion and relatable experiences that cuts through with melody and sultry tone. Straight out of school\, she dove head first into music: touring nationally and internationally\, either by herself\, with her band\, or with other well renowned artists. She has released numerous records throughout her career and doesn’t plan on stopping. Her music has hints of indie folk\, bedroom pop and indie piano pop\, all tied in with her own spin and topped off with a unique and rich voice. Her songs and performing style incorporates humor and connection\, making the audience feel heard and immersed. \nAfter releasing her first album before graduating high school\, “It’s Not Like Anyone’s Listening”\, she went on to tour through the United States by herself or with other artists. She then released her second Ep\, “The River” in 2019 at Painted Recordings. While recording and writing\, she toured across the United States in Tennessee\, California\, Texas\, Vermont\, and eventually headed overseas where she did her first headlining European tour through Norway accompanied by a band. After returning she released her latest album\, “The Norway EP”\, which she had the opportunity to record in Scandinavia. Now she is currently working on her next project and planning on getting back to the road.

DESCRIPTION:Chicken Wire Empire returns to The Bend Theater\nBorn from the Wisconsin jamband scene\, Chicken Wire Empire began as a traditional bluegrass band. The band honed its traditional sound in 2014 with their debut album Chicken Wire Empire. With half of the group rooted in bluegrass\, and the other half steeped in jamband music\, a change occurred when CWE performed an Old & In The Way tribute show. A new sound was found in Milwaukee\, and Chicken Wire Empire joined the roster of high energy jamgrass happening across the nation.  This journey from traditional to progressive was documented by director Ross Monagle in the film ”All It Takes\,” premiering in 2016 at the Oriental Theatre in Milwaukee. Recorded and mixed by sound engineer Sam Donoghue\, the film follows the band around Wisconsin and includes performances in Milwaukee’s historic Riverside Theatre.  In 2018\, the band returned to the studio\, recording their sophomore album “What Moves Mountains” at Axis Recording Studios with engineer Vinny Millevolte and the mastering talents of Justin Perkins. With support from their family and friends\, What Moves Mountains was released January 1st of 2019. \nIn 2020\, as live shows were drying up\, the band turned to live-streaming\, and were featured showcase artists in virtual renditions of the IBMA and Folk Alliance International conferences. The band used their time to arrange and record an album with Minnesota songsmith Chris Castino (The Big Wu) at NeonBrown with Ryan Young (Trampled by Turtles) engineering. The album features guests Peter Rowan\, Sam Bush\, Jerry Douglas\, Andy Hall\, Tim O’Brien\, and Nick Forester. Rachel and Devin will go over each question\, one by one. They will start by bringing out each wife and go over their answers to a question like “Who is your celebrity crush?” Each wife will give their answer. Then their husbands return to the stage and guess what their wife’s answer was. If their answers match their spouses\, that couple gets a point. After a series of these questions\, Rachel and Devin will take a break to talk to the audience and ask them which couple they think is going to win and why. Then the couples will return for the second round of the game. The roles will be reversed. He told his guidance counselor in high school he wanted to be an engineer and she told him “With your grades? That’s hilarious\, you should be a comedian!” \nHis comedy is based on growing up in Wisconsin… football\, hunting\, fishing\, his family\, and his wife and kids. He’s performed at everything from churches to swinger clubs\, grade schools to colleges\, country clubs to biker clubs\, nursing homes to casinos. Instant likability\, he reminds you of your crazy cousin\, the guy next door\, your brother-in-law. Whether you know him as Couch Commander or Gutpile\, he’s sure to get a room full of people laughing. On the stage and off\, Mike is the guy you’ll want to have a beer with. \n  \n———————————————————————————————– \n  \nOriginally from Stevens Point WI\, Brady Gregurich recently moved from Minneapolis to Green Bay\, WI! Brady’s take on everything from being recently married to being the crazy lazy uncle that’s not quite ready for parenthood has had audiences laughing for over 6 years. He tours the Midwest and is a regular performer at the legendary Skyline Comedy Club. He has worked with some of the greatest comedians touring today including Joe List\, Doug Stanhope\, Chad Daniels\, and Brad Williams.
